]]> During the match between England and Iran in the first round of Group B at the World Cup, one fan got the attention of photojournalists because of the shirt he was wearing.
As expected, England was better than Iran at the Kalifa International Stadium, but the impression remains that they achieved a convincing 6:2 victory at half throttle.

Let us remind you that the scorers for the European runners-up were Jude Bellingham (35), Bukayo Saka (43, 62), Raheem Sterling (45+1), Marcus Rashford (71) and Jack Grealish (89), while the goals for Iran were the work of Mehdi Taremi ( 65, 90+13-11m).

But what hurts many Iranian fans is the fact that it was the Croatian expert Dragan Skočić who led the national team to the World Cup with a record number of points, only to be suddenly fired two months before the World Cup.

The Iranian club has failed to reach an agreement with Italian coach Andrea Stramaccioni and now is going to sign the Croatian coach.

Skocic has 18-month remaining on his current contract and it’s pretty unlikely that Sanat Naft will let him go.

Esteghlal has also negotiated with an Italian coach.

The Blues sit fifth in the Iran Professional League (IPL) table with 29 points, five points adrift of leader Persepolis.

The Isfahan-based football team had been previously linked with Mansour Ebrahimzadeh and Mehdi Tartar but they have reportedly negotiated with the 51-year-old Croatian coach.

Zob Ahan parted company with Alireza Mansourian last week following poor results.

The team sits 11th in the Iran Professional League, nine points above the relegation zone.

He has penned a one-year contract with Sanat Naft for an undisclosed fee.

Skocic replaced Portuguese coach Paulo Sergio, who left Sanat Naft in mid-May to take charge of Saudi Arabian football club Al-Taawoun, in Abadan-based football team.

Skocic, 50, started his coaching career in Rijeka in 2005 and has also worked at Iranian football clubs Malavan, Foolad and Khooneh be Khooneh.

Sanat Naft finished 9th in the Iran Professional League (IPL) last season.
