Iran national football team head coach Dragan Skocic awarded Iran No. 8 shirt to Croatian Ambassador to Tehran Drago Štambuk. Skocic met his countryman in Croatia Embassy in Tehran on Monday. Skocic was accompanied by his assistants Mladen Žganjer and Marijo Tot in the meeting.

In a meeting which was held in Croatian Football Federation’s headquarters, the officials underlined their willingness to promote cooperation in football. The legendary Croatian footballer, who helped the Chequered Ones finish third in the 1998 World Cup, had previously said he is interested in visiting Iran.

In July 2011 I went to Las Palmas, where I spent the following two years of playing career. The contacts were very intense, and a clear evidence supporting the importance of its interest is the thorough attention the Chilean media gave to it. The journal La Cuarta has published an interview with Mirko Jozić, who did a fantastic job in Chile. When asked about his opinion on another Croat coming at the bench of Colo Colo, Jozić said: “Even though he is young, Dragan Skočić has enough references and knowledge to sit on the bench of Colo Colo. He is affirmed in Croatia and in Slovenia. And yes, I absolutely support his arrival, if he becomes the coach…”
30.09.2009. I played with Kuvait Al Arabi in the quarter final of the Asian cup. The rival was Al-karamah from Syria. Both games ended with the result 0:0. During the regular part of the game we missed a penalty and then we lost in the overtime – penalty part, which has stopped us qualifying for the semifinals.
In May 2009 during the campaign for the Presidential elections in Real Madrid, the Marca, one of the most prestigious sports journals in Spain and in Europe, published another interesting fact. In an interview with one of the candidates to the presidential position at the “Royal club”, Eduardo Garcia, my name was mentioned. Garcia said: “We prefer a modest project, but with the right people. I would choose Slaven Bilić as coach (with Dragan Skočić as assistant coach). They guarantee an attacking, brilliant and wonderful football…”
