Iran national football team head coach Dragan Skocic awarded Iran No. 8 shirt to Croatian Ambassador to Tehran Drago Štambuk. Skocic met his countryman in Croatia Embassy in Tehran on Monday. Skocic was accompanied by his assistants Mladen Žganjer and Marijo Tot in the meeting.

In a meeting which was held in Croatian Football Federation’s headquarters, the officials underlined their willingness to promote cooperation in football. The legendary Croatian footballer, who helped the Chequered Ones finish third in the 1998 World Cup, had previously said he is interested in visiting Iran.

Back in 1992, a twist of fate made me the first player from the Croatian football league who went abroad to play professionally.
In the mid ’90s the Spanish league has became the adoption place of Croatian players. Our players have found in Spain a pleasant atmosphere for the further developement of their careers. By moving to Sevilla in the year 1991, Davor Šuker has blazed the path for other players.
In July 2011 I went to Las Palmas, where I spent the following two years of playing career. It was a splendid period, in which I renewed some old friendships and also published two texts on the blog Tinta Amarilla, specialized in news about Las Palmas. My greatest victory in the Asian Champions League which made us pass in the group was against the Uzbek club Paktahor. The result was 4:0.
In the year 2011 I have played the Asian Champions League with the Saudi Al Nassr club. The victory over the Iranian champion Esteghlal was my first victory in the CL, which is why it takes a special place in my career.
In January 2011, after signing the contract with Al Nassr, the TV Peru published on its webpage a post about Cienciano showing extreme interest for my services. They have also cited the most important details of my career, but at that moment I was already leading Al Nassr.
In December 2010 it was published that I was the main candidate to take over Bolivar. The Chilean journal La Cuarta has published in its online edition another text, that relates me to Mirko Jozić. Under the title “Mirko chico” (Little Mirko), it announces the possibility of me taking over the most famous Chilean club Colo Colo.
About at the same time with this information appearing in the journal Marca, the Chilean Colo Colo, one of the most famous clubs on the world showed interest for my services. The contacts were very intense, and a clear evidence supporting the importance of its interest is the thorough attention the Chilean media gave to it. The journal La Cuarta has published an interview with Mirko Jozić, who did a fantastic job in Chile. When asked about his opinion on another Croat coming at the bench of Colo Colo, Jozić said: “Even though he is young, Dragan Skočić has enough references and knowledge to sit on the bench of Colo Colo. He is affirmed in Croatia and in Slovenia. And yes, I absolutely support his arrival, if he becomes the coach…”
During the stay President Grabar Kitarovic in Iran that I was invited by the Embassy of the Republic of Croatia to the reception, the self with the President came out on the most visited sports website in Iran varsah3 and watched by 103,000 people.
30.09.2009. I played with Kuvait Al Arabi in the quarter final of the Asian cup. The rival was Al-karamah from Syria. Both games ended with the result 0:0. During the regular part of the game we missed a penalty and then we lost in the overtime – penalty part, which has stopped us qualifying for the semifinals.
In May 2009 during the campaign for the Presidential elections in Real Madrid, the Marca, one of the most prestigious sports journals in Spain and in Europe, published another interesting fact. In an interview with one of the candidates to the presidential position at the “Royal club”, Eduardo Garcia, my name was mentioned. Garcia said: “We prefer a modest project, but with the right people. I would choose Slaven Bilić as coach (with Dragan Skočić as assistant coach). They guarantee an attacking, brilliant and wonderful football…”
The greatest victory of Rijeka over Hajduk in history (0:4) in Split is most certainly one of the victories I will never forget.
One of my favourite victories is the one over Dinamo with Modric, Eduardo and Corluka in the year 2006 at the Maksimir stadium, with the result 1:2.
